Brady George is a local country musician who picked up a guitar at just ten years old and never looked back. Influenced by the rock and country music his parents played around the house, he’s found his place in Louisiana’s tight-knit live music community. Brady tells us about his early start, what he’s learned performing live, and what keeps him inspired.

Caitlen: Tell us about yourself and your journey into music. What first drew you in, and how did you get to where you are today?

Brady: I first started playing guitar at 10 years old, at Rockin Mozart Academy in Port Allen. I grew up with my parents always blasting some kind of rock or country music and I had always wondered what it was like to go be on stage.

Caitlen: If your life were a country song, what would the title be and why?

Brady: Hwy 77 Half-past 8. I grew up driving on that road everyday, multiple times a day and I wrote a song about it a while back.

Caitlen: What’s one lesson performing live has taught you?

Brady: To stop being so nervous about everything. I used to be extremely and never talked to anyone. As soon as I got on stage I immediately started opening up and hanging out with people and made so many friends.

Caitlen: What do you love most about the Louisiana music scene? Any favorite venues, traditions, or experiences?

Brady: I love how tight knit the community is. We have so much talent coming from both sides the river and everyone goes to each others shows and supports each other.

Caitlen: Do you have any hobbies outside of music that inspire your creativity?

Brady: Just driving around and listening to music gives me plenty of ideas.

From his first guitar lessons to finding confidence on stage, Brady’s story shows how music can shape both a person and a community. You can catch him performing around Baton Rouge, usually with band mate Anna Claire or with the full AC Campbell Band.
